• 2018 Fall Semester Course Add/Drop Period (8/20~9/3, Monday)

    The 2018 Fall semester course add/drop period is from Aug. 20 (Mon) to Sep. 3 (Mon).

    Please check the minimum course credits before registering 2018 Fall courses.

     

     

    ※ Course Registration

    * BTM

    - Undergraduate : minimun of 12 ~ maximum of 24

    (Undergraduate students are eligible to take more than 24 credits if the students have the advisor′s and Head of Dept.′s approval, in case that students have the GPA of previous semester is over 3.0/

    If the required credits are under 12 credits for graduation, students can take under 12 credits with the advisor′s and Head of Dept.′s approval. However, students need to take all credits remaining for graduation requirements after 8th semester.)

     

    - Graduate : (Full Time) minimum of 9 ~ maximum of 12, (Part Time) minimum of 3 ~ maximum of 9

     

    ! students who do not apply courses will be expelled.(School regulation Article 34, Clause 4) and who register under ‘minimum credits per semester(undergraduate 12, graduate(fulltime) 9, graduate(parttime) 1)’ will get academic warning.(School regulation Article 71 Clause 3, Article 86 Clause 1)

     

     


     

    [Main Campus(Daejeon)]2018 Fall Semester Course Add/Drop Period

    1. Add/Drop Period : Monday, August 20, 2018 ~ Monday, September 3, 2018

     

    2. Opening hours of course registration system :

    - Undergraduate: Time slots for course drop and course registration will be given separately every day during the period.

    ㅇ Course drop 00:00(night) ~ 12:00(daytime)

    ㅇ Course registration 12:30(daytime) ~ 23:59(night)

    ※ Course drop or registration are available during the prescribed time slots only. Please note that students who have registered for courses of which meeting times clash with their finalized class timetable should drop the courses during the final time slot for course drop because the last day of the course add/drop period ends with course registration following a time slot for course drop.(In the event of misinterpretation arising from cultural differences, the original text in Korean shall take precedence over the English translation.)

             The registration system opens from 12:30 on August 20 to before 23:59 on September 3 (Students can register at Portal – not available on mobile equipment)

    - Graduate: the registration system opens from 00:00 on August 20 to before 23:59 on September 3 (Course registration is available in Portal System only –not available on mobile devices.)

     

    3. How to : Connect to Portal(http://Portal.kaist.ac.kr)

    ->Add new classes or drop/change classes

     

    4. Procedure

    * Log on to Portal(http://portal.kaist.ac.kr) with your Portal ID and Password

    * Access to ‘Academic system’ on Hot Menu

    * Check the courses and syllabuses offered for Fall session

    : Portal->Academic system-> Class Enrolment -> Course Registration

    * Add Courses with ‘Application’ button or Drop the courses with ‘Delete’ button

     

    5. Matters to be attended to

    A. Students failing to register for courses on-line for various reasons should

    - complete the ‘Add/drop form’ [attached files] with Course code, class # , course name, # of credits, make-up class

    _ obtain course instructor’s signature

    - submit the form to the Academic Registrar’s Team (ART) by 18:00 September 3

    ART won’t accept the Add/drop form after the deadline (September 3 at 6:00 p.m.)

    B. (Undergraduate) When you register for the retake courses, you’re requested to submit the Confirmation Form for Course Retake[attached files] to the Academic Registrar’s Team after obtain the signature from the course professor during the add/drop period. If not submitted, retaking course registration will be automatically deleted.

    C. The number of credits

    -  Graduate: The number of credits graduate students can take each semester is between 9 and 12 credits(full-time students), between 1 and 9 credits(part-time students). However, students can register the maximum 18 credits(full-time students), 12 credits(part-time students) with an approval of their academic advisor and the head of their department.(with confirmation (signature) of advisor and the head of the department on the application form)

    - Undergraduate: The number of credits undergraduate students can take each semester is between 12 and 24 credits. However, students can register more than 24 credits (1) with ‘GPA 3.0 and more’ of last semester.(with confirmation (signature) of advisor and the head of the department on the application form), And students (2) under 12 credits left for graduation can register less than 12 credits with an approval of their academic advisor and the head of their department(with confirmation (signature) of advisor and the head of the department on the application form), and should register all left credits for graduation from 8 semesters. (Article 15 of Curriculum operational Guidelines)

    D. (Important)

    After Course Add/Drop Period(September 3), students cannot register for courses.

    Please refer to the regulation that students who does not apply courses will be expelled.(School regulation Article 34, Clause 4) and who register under ‘minimum credits per semester(undergraduate 12, graduate(full-time) 9, graduate(part-time) 1)’ will get academic warning.(School regulation Article 71, Article 86 Clause 1)
